Pisgah Brewing Company is teaming up with Wild South for an exclusive VIP package to accompany the already stellar Strings and Suds event on the Pisgah Brewing Outdoor Stage, to be held Saturday, June 8th. The VIP package will include a multi-course dinner and pairing featuring special release brews and all-local farm-to-fork fair, as well as private viewing, private cash bar and more. The Brewmaster VIP Package is $90, and will only sell 100 tickets to this exclusive event.

Pisgah Brewing Company offers an array of VIP packages with their larger events, and this is not the first time the brewery has featured such packages to benefit local non-profits. “Pisgah has worked alongside Wild South for many years now with an array of events and promotions, and I think we really went over the top this time” says Benton Wharton, Events Director at Pisgah Brewing Company. “Protecting our most natural forests, and more importantly our beloved watersheds, is a key issue in our community and something we take very seriously here at Pisgah Brewing”.

Ben Colvin, Development Director for Wild South, considers this “a prime example of locally minded organizations coming together in support of a common goal”. Features of the multi-course meal and pairing will include Foothills Family Farms meats, selections from Sunburst Trout Farm, and a menu prepared by local catering artisans, Colorful Palate. Pisgah plans to feature some of its yet-to-be-released barrel aged beers as well as some brand-new seasonal brews for the pairing as well.

(Black Mountain, N.C.)- Colorado Slam grass pioneers, Leftover Salmon, take the outdoor stage at Pisgah Brewing Company for a bluegrass throw down on Sunday, May 26. The gate opens at 4:30 p.m. and features opening performances by Elephant Revival and Dangermuffin Acoustic, with a special late night show in the taproom with Town Mountain. The show begins at 5:30 p.m. accompanied by numerous food vendors and local beer on tap.

The event will also be a benefit for local non profit, FATE, who recently just helped raise $4,000.00 for MANNA FoodBank by working with Jim James, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Oskar Blues Brewery. This will be the second time both Pisgah Brewery and Town Mountain have worked with FATE in 2013. “At Pisgah, we pride ourselves on our community involvement and outreach. FATE gives us a vehicle to join philanthropy with our concert events,” says Benton Wharton, spokesman for Pisgah Brewery. Tickets are available in advance for $24.50 and $30 day of show. A $55 Hopster VIP ticket includes early entry to the event, a private guided tour and tasting, and exclusive VIP viewing area close to stage with cash bar.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 2, 2013

PISGAH BREWING COMPANY ANNOUNCES THEIR PRODUCTS WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE USDA ORGANIC CERTIFICATION

(BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.) – Pisgah Brewing Company of Black Mountain, N.C., announces that it will no longer receive organic certification from the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) for its products. Since its inception in 2005, Pisgah Brewing Company has been renowned for its organic beer selection, brewed with nothing but whole-leaf hops, all-organic grains and organic ingredients. Pisgah Pale Ale is one of the most widely sold beers in the Buncombe County region, and the word “Organic” could be found on the brewery’s logo, labels, and brand.

In 2008, the USDA handed down to organic producers that their certification would no longer allow exceptions to the 100% organic rule for ingredients that are either not available in certified organic form, or not 100% certified organic. This is mainly due to certain fertilizers or processes in packaging, and the USDA put a deadline in March of 2013 for participants to change their ingredients, or lose certification. After 5 years of this debate, Pisgah Brewing Company has decided that it will not change its operations, ingredients or recipes in any way, thus forfeiting their USDA Organic Certification.

Aside from the organic certification, Pisgah Brewing products stand apart from a majority of operating breweries in their use of whole-leaf hops. It is industry standard for hop pellets to be used in the brewing process, which are mashed and processed into small pellets, resembling something much like those used in wood smokers. Whole Leaf hops are sealed and packaged as they are off of the vine, a tactic which craft brewing industry leader Sierra Nevada has used throughout their existence.

Dave Quinn, owner and creator of Pisgah Brewing Company and it’s many recipes, states, “nothing about our process will change whatsoever. We will take the organic logo off of our labels, advertising and logos, and will remain the same Pisgah Brewing Company everyone has come to know and love. We will brew with nothing but the finest and most locally sourced ingredients we can find.”

Pisgah Brewing’s doors remain open to the public daily, and patrons can be a part of one of the many brewery tours offered at Pisgah every Saturday afternoon to see their operations for themselves.

Just outside of Asheville—the four-time Beer City USA winner—Pisgah has become a local favorite for its terroir-driven brews, which utilize hops grown just minutes away at Hop’n Blueberry Farm. You can’t go wrong with the organic IPA, a citrusy and floral sipper brewed with six hop varieties. At 7.5% ABV, its dangerously sessionable, thanks to a kiss of malt sweetness that keeps the bitterness in check. If you’re in the area, check out one of the concerts regularly held on Pisgah’s grounds—they’re as good at partying as they are brewing!—AS
